I first became interested in clean energy technology in 2012 when Tesla started to make major headlines with the Model S. It was the first recognizable product I had ever seen offer a real solution to climate change.

With clean energy technology my focus, I decided to study chemical engineering for my bachelor’s degree. In my studies I learned how to analyze the processes and economics that underpin industrial manufacturing of liquid fuels, plastics, chemicals, and semiconductors. My undergraduate education gave me the technical background I needed to understand the energy market.

Through my master’s program, I have taken courses in economics, energy policy, business & entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies. I have focused on developing my skills with data analysis tools to parse through information from all the systems surrounding energy technology.

I want my career to revolve around creating resiliency and reliability in the energy grid. I believe that diverse generation technologies, energy storage, distributed microgrids, and expanded transmission infrastructure are all essential to the future of energy in the United States. Continued innovation in funding mechanisms, policymaking, analysis, and technology are all essential to that vision of truly zero-emission energy infrastructure.

I hope that through my writing and my career, I can supplement the work, research, and conversations surrounding clean energy.
